Sleepy day but lots to do...

It's one of those rainy chilly Fall mornings that are conducive to oversleeping and spending too much time at the computer. The sound of compressors blowing out sprinkler systems for the season rings through the neighborhood. Being in denial that Summer is quite over, I haven't booked my own sprinkler dude to blow out our system yet. I called him this morning. "Didn't you get the flyer?" He asked. "Oh yeah, I got it. I'm just a bad planner." *__* They are working me in on Saturday.

On the jewelry front, I'm finishing up a couple of loomed bracelets for fun and working on some more transfer and silver pieces that I hope to get up in my shop soon.

This week, in celebration of my birthday, I also indulged in a little bit of Etsy buying and got these two fun pieces! A vampire ring from RichmondArt & a sweet little fawn necklace from fellow EtsyMN team member, Sarah, of CreativeSundries.

Louis XVI

I have a little lamp featuring Marie Antoinette and Louis the XVI that I bought at an estate sale last year. It wasn't until I got it home that I noticed that Louis' head had been glued on at some point. His hand too. *__* Well the thing tipped over a few months ago and off came his head.

I guess it's fitting given the fact that Louis lost his head to the guillotine before Marie did. Now Marie is my lamp widow.

Nevermind Louis—I've got plans for you. You shall be made into something interesting.

Free bracelet!

With a nod and some love, I fashioned this little mondrian-inspired bracelet from Delica seed beads. Bracelet measures 6-1/4" x 3/4" and features a little glass heart at one end. It is adjustable to fit up to an 8" wrist. Findings are base metal and silver plate.

A Looming We Will Go

It's been ages since I've made anything on a loom, but I've got some ideas for incorporating loom work into my jewelry designs. Last night, I started messing around with some Delica seed beads, which are great for their uniformity and color if you are just getting into it. Ultimately, the little doodad pictured here has led to another idea entirely... but I thought I would share my handiwork anyway! It is truly relaxing work—aside from the squinting—I had to break out the magnifier light to thread the needle and work with these tiny beads!
